Initiative Girls`Day

Girls' Future Day has been held in Germany since 2001! Every year on the fourth Thursday in April, young girls from the fifth grade onwards swap their school desks for companies, workshops, and laboratories for a day. This day offers a great opportunity to broaden girls' career choices. Girls learn about a variety of professions in a targeted and practical way, overcome any reservations they may have about technical or technology-related professions, and can experience the world of work firsthand.

Since 2005, the Equal Opportunities Officer has been organizing Girls' Day in the workshops of Heidelberg University. Schoolgirls gain insights and initial practical experience in technical fields of work that have previously been dominated by boys. For example, in the workshops for precision engineering, metalworking, glassblowing, systems electronics, or IT. “GIRLS' DAY IS FUN!” That's what girls can experience with us. Places in the workshops are usually available online from February. Registration is via the nationwide website.
